Well, actually day -1.
Matt and I are two days late and $20 short. As you know, we had planned on beginning our 30 day juice fast first thing this past Friday morning. Well, our poor planning led us to a Friday morning with exactly zero vegetables, 2 apples, and an avocado. Ooops!
We settled on a smoothie for breakfast. That led to us noticing a ton of delicious and enticing food still temping us in the fridge. A bowl of yogurt and walnuts later, Saturday was the new start day to the 30 day juice fast.
Our roommate informed us she was coming home after work to fry up some chicken. Well shit. Matt had a melt down and demanded fried chicken before the fast.
At 11:30pm no fried chicken within reach although Broadway Diner delivered a plate of heavenly goodness right in front of Matt while he was posing. I thought this would ruin the picture of him and the lovely menu, but no, not in the least. Feast your eyes, on.... his feast? Ha!
The name of the dish- "The Super Matt"
Chilli, 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, gravy, and globs of cheese. Pretty much enough food for 3 people. Not necessary for a last meal but he said he had no choice?
The evil waitress then explained this horrific dessert with homemade caramel sauce and a butterscotch doughnut ice cream sandwich (I thought she was kidding, as we just explained our guilt of not starting our juice fast). With only a moments hesitation, Matt insisted this too was absolutely necessary (like we are never going to eat anything unhealthy again in our lives).
The sinful treat was gluttonous but beyond rich and delicious! Matt and I both agreed tomorrow (Saturday- Day 0) would be a much better day. Our checklist went as follows:
1-Wake up early and get to grocery store by 9am to get fruits and veggies to juice
2-Finish all non-juicable food in refrigerator to lower any risk of cheating
3-Eat a small healthy lunch
4-One hour of yoga
5-Finish off our Saturday (Day 0) with a green juice
Tomorrow will be a better day!
