Day 3
Overall Day 3 was not too shabby. A little hazy and lazy but the juices are getting tastier!
Abigail
I desperately wanted to take a nap around 10am but mustered up some energy to fight through it. Something strange: my teeth feel gritty and sticky? Must be detoxing from my mouth! No idea.
Favorite juice of the day: carrot, tomato, red pepper, celery, apple and strawberry.
Matt
He worked all day at the hospital and kicked ass in the am. It wasn't until 1pm that he started to feel the detoxing: tired, loss of focus, and dragging.
The ice cubes are a must now for every juice and Matt has learned that maybe it's OK to only put 3-4 fruits and veggies in each juice instead of 8-10.
One tip:
Clean everything as soon as you are done using it and give yourself enough time to prep the fruit and veggies (wash and cut), make the juice, clean the juicer and all parts used, and finally allow AT LEAST 10 minutes to enjoy the juice! By all means, chug if necessary although, sitting on the sofa or at the kitchen table makes it feel like a meal and I find it relaxing.
Day 4
The juice fast is getting easier! It still sucks, don't get me wrong, but on a scale of 1-10 (10 being day 2- full on bitch mode and 1 being amazing-nothing-can-get-me-down-kind-of-day)Day 4 was a 6! What a monumental improvement. :)
A huge bonus of the juice fast thus far is the healing power. I sprained my (L) ankle last week and I have been suffering from self-diagnosed plantar fasciitis on the same (L) foot for 8 weeks. My joints and ligaments LOVE the juice! Walking down the stairs in the morning is no longer a chore and for that, I am so grateful!
I also have somewhat chronic back and neck pain due to my genetic swayback (lordosis) and my cervical kyphosis (my neck is straight and not curved). Updates will follow if I feel any improvements in those areas.
Matt and I are doing yoga 3x/week and some light walking. He is very concerned about protein and wants to put whey protein in his juice.....my advice was to read up on protein while juicing. The next post will have his decision and our findings regarding muscle mass, juicing, and protein intake.
One tip: I love putting my juice in a fun glass! Dorky? Maybe, but after three days of the same pint glass, I needed to change things up! The strawberry garnish was a freakin' terrible idea though. Having a delicious fruit that you can smell an inch from your mouth with every sip... not smart!
Tomorrow will be a better day!
